Honouring long service 2017

The Two Oceans Aquarium is blessed with passionate staff and volunteers - some of whom have been here since we opened in 1995. On 1 November we honoured those who have worked or volunteered at the Aquarium for 20, 15, 10 or five years. Two Oceans Aquarium CEO Michael Farquhar and Curator Maryke Musson presented these awards in recognition of this incredible service.

“The Two Oceans Aquarium has been open for 22 years this month and, incredibly, there are still a handful of staff who have been here since the very beginning. The Aquarium has gone through so much since opening and has become a leading attraction in the Western Cape and a respected institution in the marine education and conservation arena. This is entirely due to the dedication and passion of all our staff. Because much of what we do can only be experienced “on the job”, the transfer of skills, passion and commitment is the task of those who have been here for a while. We honour those who have dedicated years of their lives in service of the Two Oceans Aquarium and ultimately Our Ocean.
