World Wetlands Day competition: Win an annual pass to the Aquarium!

Two Oceans Aquarium

Our Environmental Education Department is running a fantastic competition during the month of February – open to all school children (from grades 1 to 12) who visit the Aquarium in February as part of a school group. Up for grabs is a year’s free membership to the Two Oceans Aquarium; winners will be judged in four age categories.

The education department is running the competition in an effort to raise awareness for World Wetlands Day, which takes place on 2 February. Healthy wetlands help prevent floods and also act as feeder systems for our river systems, which provide the water resources that humans need for agriculture, industry and urban domestic use.

Water is scarce in South Africa, and wetland conservation in this country receives a great deal of attention from the government and international partners.

How to enter:

In no more that 50 words, tell us why water is important to you.

The rules:

1. Entries are to be submitted on the day of the visit to the Two Oceans Aquarium.
2. Entries need to contain the learner’s name and surname.
3. Entries need to contain the teacher’s name, surname and contact telephone number.
4. We would prefer entries to be on materials that we can recycle. Use any scrap paper, bottles, cardboard ... be creative!
