A one-week break from school is not very long, but you can spend it doing something different every day at the Two Oceans Aquarium!
Here’s what we’ve got on from 11 to 19 October:
Waterfront Waddle
We want to gather as many people of all ages together to celebrate African Penguin Awareness Day on Saturday 11 October. There will be face painting for the kids (or grown-ups, for that matter) as well as refreshments, before we go waddling down to Three Anchor Bay and back, all in the name of our fluffy friends. Remember to wear black and white!
Daily arts and crafts
Let the little ones get crafty at the AfriSam Children’s Play Centre. Activities are supervised by staff and each day offers the chance to make marine mobiles, fridge magnets, glitter cards and more!
Animal feeds
Much like mealtimes for humans, the Aquarium becomes a hive of activity when food is served! Come through to witness a shark feed at 15h00 on Sunday 12 October, or see the Ocean Basket Kelp Forest’s feed at 12h00 on Saturday 11 October and Wednesday 15 October. Other feeds happen daily around the Aquarium – check the times so suit your visit.
Puppet shows
Our puppet shows are a must-see for any budding sea fans. They are fun, interactive, and have an important conservation message to them. They also come with a companion activity book. Be at the Afrisam Children’s Play Centre at 10h30, 13h30 and 16h00 to join the fun.
Meet the mascots
Deep down, we know that sharks just want to be hugged – especially our mascot, Silver! If you see him, do exactly that. He’ll be accompanied by Samantha the African penguin ... she’s also quite partial to hugs and hellos from boys and girls visiting the Aquarium. They are pretty easy to spot, so keep an eye out for them as they wander around the Aquarium and the rest of the Waterfront over the weekends.
Here’s to a fintastic time!
