Weird, Wild and Wonderful winter at the Two Oceans Aquarium

Two Oceans Aquarium

The Two Oceans Aquarium is calling on young and old to visit the Aquarium and to vote for their favourite “Weird, Wild and Wonderful” creature. By voting, one lucky family will win a “Wild” weekend at the Aquila Private Game Reserve, less than two hours drive from Cape Town. The prize, an overnight Big 5 safari for two adults and two children, includes accommodation in a luxury chalet as well as three meals and two game drives, valued at R6 500.

The Aquarium is a hive of voting activities. Ballot papers are being distributed and dedicated voting stations have been erected in the foyer. Here, specially trained voting officers are at hand to assist voters as each candidate is a strong and worthy contestant in this election race. Visitors are encouraged to investigate each candidate’s merits by consulting their election poster and then to cast a vote in each of the three categories. Will it be a landslide victory for Puff Daddy the evileye pufferfish as the Wildest of them all? Could it be that Slimeball the hagfish pulls his slimy goo over the eyes of the rocksucker and sargassum fish, the other two candidates in the Weird category? Or will the attentive fathering of Sugar Daddy the longsnout pipefish win the hearts of voters in the Wonderful category? This is an election where each candidate presents a compelling campaign and where a single vote could mean the difference between winning and losing. The campaign runs until 17 July 2011 and the winner of the magnificent Aquila Private Game Reserve prize will be announced on 20 July 2011.

To add to the fan-fare, MagicNick will be wowing the crowds with magic shows on Saturdays (2, 9 and 16 July) at 12:30 and 14:00. During the campaign the AfriSam Children’s Centre will be presenting special “Weird, Wild and Wonderful” arts ‘n crafts and on Sundays (3, 10 and 17 July) between 09:30 and 17:00 children will have the opportunity to go wild and have their faces painted with weird and wonderful designs.

The Aquarium is currently offering discounted family membership packages. These special offers are valid until 31 August 2011. A family membership for 2 adults and 1 child has been discounted to R460 - a saving of R110.00. Two adults and two children will pay only R550 for a year’s worth of visits- a saving of R130. A membership to the Aquarium allows one to visit the fish as often as one wishes for an entire year.
