Two Oceans Aquarium Environmental Education Centre P.A. to Head of Education Katja Rockstroh is on the road this week, live-tweeting and blogging from the annual Waddle for a Week for the African penguin.
After a lovely dinner at Cocos (thanks for the complimentary drinks, Ramon), everybody was ready for bed following day two’s long 24km.
Day three (24 April 2013) started with a lovely morning in Hermanus.
The waddlers made their way out of town in no time. We were again joined by about 15 Cape Nature staff for the day. Cape Nature is our main sponsor and it was great to have so many of them walking with us for the whole 24km.
Join us!
Day four starts at the Arabella Hotel & Spa just outside Kleinmond and ends at the Betty’s Bay Stony Point penguin colony. It is the longest waddle – 29km. Please join us, for the whole route or just part of it.
Again, if you are in a car driving along this route, please hoot! The total number of hoots on day three was 1 091, with 3 329 cars driving past. That means our “success rate” was only 32%! We will have to try even harder over the next few days.
For those of you unable to join us, please follow us on our Twitter page, or go check out www.penguinpromises.com and make your Penguin Promise.
