Twenty-fourteen has been an eventful year at the Aquarium. There have been highs – like being voted one of the top 10 aquariums in the world – to lows, like the passing of our dear colleague Khonzani Lembeni.

Construction began on our new exhibit, we went Waddling for a Week to help African penguins, we helped rehabilitate and release a number of turtles, and we’ve been involved in important shark research.

We’ve held fun events for our 10 000-strong membership club, hosted our biggest-ever beach clean-up, and helped educate a new generation of young people about the ocean and the importance of marine conservation.
