One of the most inspirational TEDxSeaPoint talks was delivered by Achmat Hassiem, who is quite something to describe.
Paralympic swimmer – check. Record breaker – check. Lover of life – check, check, check.
We should probably also mention that Achmat is a great white shark attack survivor. In 2006, he lost his foot during a lifeguard training session at Muizenberg.
But there’s much more to Achmat than one traumatic encounter. It takes a real hero to take a bad situation and turn it into something life-changing. Of course, Achmat didn’t just change his own life – he changes the life of everyone he comes into contact with.
See for yourself. In this video, Achmat recounts that fateful day, but also tells us about moving on and moving on up. Next stop? London, baby!
