At this time of year, the only school you want to see is a school of fish!

It’s holiday season, and we have got loads to entertain sea fans of all ages. Let’s start with the little ones: this year, Santa Claus will have a chair set up at the Aquarium, and he’ll be popping in to hear who’s been naughty and who’s been nice – come along and have your photo taken! And instead of bringing the elves with him, he’ll be joined by Aquarium mascots Samantha the African Penguin, Terminator the Seal and Silver the Shark.

The AfriSam Children’s Play Centre, overlooking the penguin pool, has its usual offering of arts and crafts and puppet shows during the holiday season. Let your little ones get creative while you take a relaxing stroll through our exhibits.

For some family fun outside the Aquarium, hop aboard the Ocean Adventurer and explore the high seas – well, Table Bay at the very least. This marine eco-tour will reveal the rich biodiversity found in the waters around Cape Town, and on a good day you could see whales, dolphins, sunfish and more!

If a long day of holidaying has worked up your appetite, head for the Shoreline Café, the first restaurant in Africa to obtain Marine Stewardship Council chain-of-custody certification. Sit back and enjoy a guilt-free, sustainable meal prepared by our kitchen.

The big sea fans can get even closer to the action by booking a dive and swimming among the sharks of the I&J Predator Exhibit or exploring the Ocean Basket Kelp Forest. Who’s feeling brave?
