Special broadcast by Radio Tygerberg for National Marine Week

Renée Leeuwner

Today is quite a special day. Not only is it National Teacher’s Day, National Egg Day and National Bandanna Day, it is also the end of National Marine Week. This morning, Radio Tygerberg’s breakfast team decided to celebrate at the Two Oceans Aquarium and did a live broadcast from in front of the I&J Predator Exhibit. The afternoon-drive team joined the Oggendrooi team and together they had loads of fun.

Of course, we organised a couple of surprises for them.

Zuki, our hand-reared African penguin, made an appearance and caused quite a stir!

Tomorrow is International African Penguin Day and there are lots of activities planned at the Aquarium.

Another surprise snuck up on the presenters. Two Oceans Aquarium Curator Michael Farquhar and Aquarist Tertia Greenstone surprised them with a very unique welcome to the Aquarium.

The best entertainment for the morning was of course the animals and they played their part perfectly.

A couple of very special children from “I am Special” (a non-profitable children’s upliftment and educational Christian ministry), were also treated to a very special visit to the Aquarium.
