We recently hosted radio presenter Guy McDonald on a penguin encounter to help raise funds for the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital Trust. Guy hosts Good Hope FM’s Breakfast with Guy McDonald.
The trust runs an online shop, Shop for Good, to which companies donate goods and services for free. These goods and services are then showcased on the site for sale at less than the normal price. All proceeds from this go to the trust, which is raising funds to build accommodation for parents who live too far to travel up and down to Cape Town when their children are admitted for treatment and tests.
McDonald is an ambassador for the trust and is helping raise funds. We invited him to the Aquarium to enjoy the penguins. We also donated a penguin encounter for two.
You have until 30 August to buy the encounter from Shop for Good, the brainchild of Andrea Desfarges of Publicity SA. They are hoping to raise R100 000 for the trust.
On his Facebook account, Guys says: “I fell in love with a bird today. The good people at the Aquarium and the special people at Red Cross Children’s Hospital Trust decided that my photo shoot launching me as a RCCH Ambassador should involve this…”
Here’s McDonald learning how to fluff out his own tail feathers.
