Shoreline Café competition – who’s a lucky fish?

Stuart Buchanan

Thanks to everybody who entered our recent Shoreline Café competition – and for taking the time to read up about our on-site restaurant and its impressive accolades.

We asked what Shoreline Café was awarded in 2011. The correct answer was, of course, that on 19 July 2011, it became the first restaurant in Africa to be awarded Chain-of-Custody certification from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).

The MSC certification entitles Shoreline Café to use the MSC logo for all MSC-certified products sold in the restaurant, such as South African trawl-caught hake, and gives consumers independent assurance that the product is traceable back through the seafood supply chain to the sustainable fishery that caught it. In this way, the MSC enables consumers and seafood buyers around the world to make the best environmental choice in seafood.

Check out our blogpost about the media event held at Shoreline Café on the day the certificate was awarded.

There could only be one lucky winner, and it was ... drumroll, please ... Petra Jaschke! Congratulations, Petra – you’ll be swimming away with a R300 voucher to spend at Shoreline Café during your next visit!
