At the end of each year, the Two Oceans Aquarium hosts a special group of people to a visit to the Aquarium and a bit of a party, all in celebration of the festive season. In the past, we’ve hosted groups of children from various homes and organisations. This year, we thought that we would change things slightly and instead of inviting little children, we invited grandmas and grandpas.
“A lot of emphasis is placed on children during the festive season and we felt that an elderly group is just as deserving,” said Alichia Nortjé, Marketing Manager for the Two Oceans Aquarium.
“In an effort to make everyone feel special this festive season we decided to host a senior citizen group as our charity festive event this year.
“It was an absolute pleasure treating the group to a morning spent with us. Four of our dedicated volunteers kindly offered their time to act as guides and everyone enjoyed a cup of tea and a sweet treat before heading back to the home.”
The 60 seniors who joined us on Friday 6 December were from the CPOA Arcadia Place in Observatory. They enjoyed a guided tour through the Aquarium and after that, some lovely tea and cake in the Think Tank Auditorium. A great time was had by everyone.
“The ladies who guided us from tank to tank went out of their way to answer questions with much patience and we stood in awe at the wonders of the world below the sea. At the auditorium we were treated to tea and delicious scones and cake,” said Julia Hitchcock, manager of the home.
