Rockhopper penguin cools down: From the Two Oceans Aquarium Flickr group

Two Oceans Aquarium

Isn’t this just the most marvellous photograph of our rockhopper penguin? All this Aquarium excitement can make our feathered friends hot and bothered, especially during the sweltering summer months. Rockhoppers love the icy subantarctic waters of the western Pacific and Indian Oceans, as well as those around the southern coasts of South America.

Here, one of our rockies gets the sprinkler treatment. Photo courtesy Martine Viljoen.

Did you know that you can meet our too-cute rockhoppers through a Penguin Encounter? Exclusively for two people at a time, our Senior Bird Trainer, Hayley McLellan, will give you a face-to-face encounter with the rockies.

Been to the Aquarium lately? We’d love to see what you saw! If you have images that you’d like to share with us, join the Two Oceans Aquarium Flickr group and you could see your picture on our blog!
