A stunning set of sea-sational photographs, submitted by our Flickr group member Dave le Roux. Dave was initially kind enough to link to his works on Twitter, and then he added them to our Flickr group, too. Love your work, Dave, and thank you very much!

Been to the Aquarium lately? We’d love to see what you saw! If you have images that you’d like to share with us, join the Two Oceans Aquarium Flickr group and you could see your picture on our blog!

Dave has exhibited his love for the oceans in other ways too. On World Biodiversity Day, in response to our question, “What are your reasons to love the oceans?”, Dave tweeted: The lure of the unknown. The oceans need to be explored more.”

And, when we asked our followers to tweet their ocean thoughts, Dave came back to us: “The world HAS TO be made more aware of the plight of our oceans.”

Dave also reckons the Aquarium is “a really special place to visit!” We seem to agree on many things …

Shafts of afternoon sunlight break through the water of the I&J Predator Exhibit as a school of giant yellowtail swims by.

The West Coast rock lobsters (crayfish or ‘’kreef’’ as they are known locally) at the Two Oceans Aquarium are approximately 30 years old! The chances of you seeing crayfish this size in the ocean these days are minimal. Rock lobsters grow very slowly and can live to the ripe old age of 50 years or so.

The South African butterflyfish is extremely photogenic, wouldn’t you say?

Awesome anemones

Life under the surface takes on many forms. These anemones may look like flowers, but they are in fact animals. Small animals with poisonous barbs in their tentacles that fire on contact, injecting poison into their prey…
