Photo essay: Sunset Beach clean-up

More than 200 volunteers turned up for the 2012 Coastal Clean-up at Sunset Beach, hosted this year by Two Oceans Aquarium with support from PlasticsSA, Transnet and the Southern African Sustainable Seafood Initiative.

Organiser Katja Rockstroh of the Two Oceans Aquarium Environmental Education Centre said the turnout was fantastic and described clean-up efforts as “a great success.”

Those who gave up their time to reduce marine pollution included a group of 50 Grade 10 learners from Kayamandi High School in Stellenbosch, around 20 DA supporters, local Sunset Beach residents and Two Oceans volunteers.

A big thank you to SBHOA committee member and RE/MAX estate agent Peter John Andrianatos, who distributed posters and helped out on the day, as well as John Kieser from PlasticsSA for his continued help and support.
