While sharks, penguins and turtles remain firm favourites with Aquarium visitors, there are so many fascinating creatures to be seen if you take some time to look closely at all the animals in each of the exhibits.
In the Tropical Exhibit at the entrance to the Indian Ocean Gallery, look out for the male bird wrasse, the Picasso triggerfish and the lieutenant surgeon.
Yes, the kids will head straight for Nemo, but then introduce them to the cleaner shrimps, paperfish and shrimpfish.
When you enter the Skretting Atlantic Ocean Gallery, spend some time in awe at the Cold Water Mosaic Exhibit on the right-hand side. Here you’ll spot delicate basket stars, a polychaete worm living in a Christmas tree, and coral nudibranchs.
Fear not the harmless giant spider crabs that lurk in the dark recesses of the Atlantic Ocean Gallery. Thrill at the octopus as he extends his tentacles and moves gracefully through the water.
And be sure to explore the new Crayfish Crawl-through Exhibit and the Deep Water Exhibit where animals secretly hide until you press a button to reveal their presence in the dark depths.
And of course there is always Scuba Claus to entertain you during the feeding of the animals in the I&J Predator Exhibit.
So much to explore and experience – and with our extended hours currently running, you can enjoy it all for longer.
And there is more to look forward to when the Aquarium’s newest exhibit opens in 2015.
