Pensioners’ Tea and Tour – 1 October
In celebration of the International Day of Older Persons, we will host a special Pensioners’ Tea and Tour at the Aquarium.
Aquarium Floor Manager Bob Shepard will be your guide through our exhibits and will also give you a behind-the-scenes look at how we maintain our exhibits. After the tour you will be treated to delicious tea-time treats at our on-site restaurant, Shoreline Café.
The cost of this event is R50 (which includes tea and coffee, finger sandwiches and pastries) and will take place from 10h00 to 11h30 on 1 October; please note that this event is for our Solemate pensioner members and we can only accommodate 30 people. Book now to avoid disappointment! Bookings close on 29 September.

Whale watching trip to Hermanus – 30 October
Join us on a trip to Hermanus to spot these gentle giants on their annual visit to our waters.
Noel Ashton, specialist cetacean illustrator and lecturer, will start our tour off with a fascinating show at the Whale Museum.
The tour continues by bus to Kwaaiwater, where we will walk along the beautiful coastal cliff paths and will hopefully spot a number of whales along the way. The walk is 6km long and takes approximately 2.5 hours.
The tour ends at the Old Harbour, where you can spend the rest of the day taking in the sights of Hermanus. Bring along a picnic lunch, pop into a fast food outlet, or relax at one of the many restaurants in this picturesque coastal town.
The day costs R160 (adults) or R100 (children between 4 and 17) and includes transport, entrance to the Whale Museum and the guided walk.
The day starts at 08h00 and ends at 17h00. We can accommodate only 60 Solemates, so be sure to book! Bookings open on 1 October and close on 25 October.
Kayaking tour from the Old Harbour
Get a real fish-eye view of the whales by taking part in a kayaking tour, starting from the Old Harbour.
This weather dependent, two-hour trip can accommodate up to 14 people per launch (limited to two launches per day) and is open to children 12 years and older.
