It was an extra-dark and moody night when Cape Town bands Dangerfields and Twin Weaver took to the stage on 26 June for the second show of the After Dark 2019 concert series, presented by the Two Oceans Aquarium and Texx and the City.
Twin Weaver got into the theme of the night by giving a nod to Steve Zissou, and their upbeat alt-pop was a beautiful complement to Dangerfields’ shoegazing sounds, complete with trombone and bowed guitar. Intense, deep and transcendent – just three words to describe an utterly special night.
Enjoy some moments from the night, captured by Leigh Groenewald.
Calling all blues lovers!
Our next show will showcase the gritty, soulful music of Manny Walters. Fresh off a season delighting the crowds in Russia, this artist may describe his sound as “electric rhythm & blues/ alternative soul”, but, however you choose to categorise this music, one thing is clear – Manny is imbued with an intuitive and instinctive musicality that is rare indeed in its authenticity and gravitas. His influences include Prince, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Tracy Chapman. Manny will be supported by songstress Luh’ra on 31 July 2019.
