Our latest Smart Living Course in May was a roaring success, with over 40 grade 7s taking part in this exciting City of Cape Town-sponsored event.

Topics included biodiversity, waste, water and energy.

Here is a photo essay to illustrate what the children did:

The course starts with an icebreaker at the I&J Predator exhibit. All photos courtesy of Owl Books
The first day comprises biodiversity activities such as looking at biotic and abiotic factors
Day two was a day of outings, starting off at the Green Point Eco Park...
...and ending off with a tour on the Ocean Adventurer
The third day was all about energy, including a behind-the-scenes tour of the Two Oceans Aquarium and our energy initiatives
And off to camp the kids went, discussing qualities of water and the fact that 70% of our planet is covered with it
The camp included a sobering trip to a landfill site...
...followed by a beach clean-up, which was tackled with much enthusiasm
The camp ended off with a visit to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens for more biodiversity lessons
And there is always time for a selfie!

Applications have already closed for the final 2015 Smart Living Course coming up in July.

Our next courses will be run in the second half of 2016 for grade 7s.
