Between April and June every year, juvenile loggerhead turtles wash up onto beaches in and around Cape Town. This year, due to rough seas and strong winds, the strandings started even earlier.
We've already received nearly 200 juvenile turtles from as far afield as Knysna and Struisbaai!
While these turtles are in quarantine and we are not allowed to handle them, Happy Hoppers will get the opportunity to see them and learn more about how we care for these stranded turtles from Tinus Beukes, the Aquarium’s collections officer.
We then continue with turtle arts and crafts and watching the puppet show in the AfriSam Children's Play Centre while mom and dad relax with a cup of coffee.
