William Shakespeare once wrote, “One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.” This Troilus and Cressida quotation might have various interpretations, but at the Aquarium we stand by the well-supported theory that in order to connect to our natural world, and remain connected to one another, we must have tactile encounters with the plants and animals that surround us.
In so doing, we are more likely to understand the significance of our place on Earth, and the great importance of conserving our natural surroundings, not only for nature’s sake but for our own survival.
It is with this in mind that we offer learners and visitors “up close and personal” marine life experiences.
From our Outreach: Oceans in Motion and Adopt-a-School programmes to our on-site Touch Pool, we ensure that the touch of nature is always within reach.
