The Two Oceans Aquarium has a vested interest in water – our tanks contain millions of litres of the stuff – so it goes without saying that we are supportive of National Water Week and World Water Day.
What is National Water Week?
National Water Week 2011 is taking place form 21 to 27 March. According to the Department of Water Affairs’ National Water Week web page, this week is all about raising “awareness among South Africans about the role of water in social and economic development, including the need to get citizens to change their attitudes towards water use.”
Cape Town-based non-profit organisation, For Love of Water (FLOW), is hard at working helping to raise this awareness and to encourage a “lasting behaviour change” in our attitudes toward water.
World Water Day
Today, 22 March, is World Water Day.
You are cordially invited to the FLOW social media launch at The Hub in Woodstock, Cape Town, followed by presentations and a live performance here at the Two Oceans Aquarium on Tuesday, 22 March 2011. Entrance is free if you RSVP!

Competition!
Send us your favourite water image or water poem: email entries to newsletter@aquarium.co.za (with “My Water Promise” in the subject line), post them on our Facebook fan page wall or tweet on Twitter! The first five entries stand to win a FLOW stainless steel water bottle.
The FLOW stainless steel bottles are durable, lightweight and made from toxin-free stainless steel, so you can use them again and again without having to worry about side effects. What’s more, the carbon generated by the transportation of these bottles has been offset by community-based electricity saving projects in South Africa. The bottles are for sale for R120 each at Shoreline Café.
This competition closes at 12h00 on Monday, 28 March.
