At its first-ever combined stand at the 2010 Tourism Indaba, held at Durban’s International Convention Centre this weekend, Two Oceans Aquarium representatives were buoyed by visitors’ positive response to the recently launched Go Cape Town visitors’ card.

Two Oceans Aquarium joined hands with Table Mountain and City Sightseeing this year under the Go Cape Town banner, to market the Mother City’s three premier attractions to visitors through the handy card.

For many visitors to the Indaba, this was their first introduction to the Go Cape Town card concept and they loved it!

Tour operators and guest hoteliers expressed particular interest in the card, with many saying it was surprising that such a collaboration had not been explored previously.

The card is a boon to international tourists, who will be able to use it to pre-book their visits to the three destinations in one go.

Aquarium exhibit representatives, Alichia Nortje, Renée Leeuwner and Jacinta Subjee, were thrilled with the interest and enthusiasm generated by the three-in-one concept card, which they described as an example of “Cape Town standing together”.

“We want to let the world know about Cape Town and we’d like to see future visitors buying a Go Cape Town card as a matter of course,” they added.

Launched in December last year, ahead of the summer tourism season, the Go Cape Town card offers visitors access to three of the Mother City’s premier attractions at a time of their choice within a three-month validity period, at a cost of R360 for adults and R180 for children.

Each card is bar-coded and is merely scanned at each of the three attractions on entry. The card is easy to buy, time-saving and enables visitors to better plan their itineraries. It cuts out the need to queue for entry at various attractions and offers flexibility in terms of dates and weather suitability.
