This year’s Hout Bay Green Faire takes place from 10h00 until 18h00 on Saturday 2 November at the Kronendal School playing fields, Main Road, Hout Bay, next to the Shell garage. It is a fun-filled family day out, and promotes sustainable living by showcasing green technologies; offering green products and services; hosting inspiring talks and short films about sustainable living; serving delicious local organic food and drinks; and providing plenty of entertainment for the whole family.
Staff from the Two Oceans Aquarium will also be present for a fun and important art challenge – help us raise awareness about the overuse of plastic and other packaging by building a sculpture out of collected rubbish! Get creative ... make a sculpture, outfit, installation or art piece to be displayed at the Artspace at the Faire, and help us spread an important conservation message. Hayley McLellan, who started the Rethink the Bag campaign, will also be present to talk about the severe damage that is being done to our oceans due to the single-use plastic bag.
For the kids, we’ve brought our popular ‘Keep the Beach Clean’ puppet show characters along to the Faire, and they will be entertaining children with an important environmental message throughout the day. Catch the puppet shows at 10h30, 11h30, 14h30 and 15h30 on Saturday.
