As people who love science, art and just generally having our minds blown, we are very excited about the Body Worlds Vital exhibition opening next month, right next door to the Two Oceans Aquarium at the V&A Waterfront’s Watershed.
The exhibition celebrates the wonder, sophistication and fragility of the human body, and we can’t wait to explore the awesome collection of real human bodies, individual organs and transparent body slices.
The exhibition will be in Cape Town for a limited period only: opening on 9 August and on show until 23 October 2016.
Body Worlds Vital is a completely new exhibition and allows visitors to see how lifestyle choices affect the body. It features 16 new full body plastinates (including the unique floating couple, for adult viewing) and more than 160 organs, body parts and transparent body slices that present the human body’s keenly intelligent design, explore how it functions, and show what happens when disease strikes.
An intriguing “anatomical mirror” will also be making its debut in the Mother City. This technology mimics your body movements and virtually peels back layers of the human body to demonstrate your anatomical structure!
Body Worlds Vital is exceptionally popular with school groups, which can take advantage of special discount options. The exhibition is a must-see for anybody working in the health sector, for medical students and professionals alike, but also perfect for a family outing.
Please note: Body Worlds Vital includes human organs, body parts and full body plastinates with eyes and genitals. Please exercise your discretion when deciding whether this exhibition is right for you and the children in your care.
