This is the box jellyfish or Carybdea alata which is not actually a fish – they’re related to sea anemones and corals, so it’s easier to just call them “jellies”.
Box jellies are related to the deadly sea wasps found off the coast of Australia and give a very painful sting. Divers often often encounter these jellies in swarms of the west coast of South Africa.
