The South African Sustainable Seafood Initiative (SASSI) is calling on you to make a change this Earth Hour.
Hundreds of millions of people, businesses and governments around the world unite each year to support the largest environmental event in history – Earth Hour. More than 5 200 cities and towns in 135 countries worldwide switched off their lights for Earth Hour 2011, sending a powerful message for action on climate change.
It also ushered in a new era with members going beyond the hour to commit to lasting action for the planet. Without a doubt, it has shown that great things can be achieved when people come together for a common cause.
This year, Earth Hour takes place on 31 March between 20h30 and 21h30, and the campaign is daring the world to save the planet. Each person who would like to make a difference is encouraged to dare others to take action and make a difference as well. The WWF SASSI Team has responded to this challenge and has issued challenges to consumers and restaurant supporters.
The WWF SASSI Team’s Earth Hour ‘I Will If You Will’ Challenges
1. Restaurants: If 100 restaurants turn off their lights, host candle-lit dinners for Earth Hour and create a SASSI green-listed seafood recipe, the WWF SASSI team will go to work in evening wear for a week!
You can view the challenge and accept it here.
2. Consumers: If 200 consumers host a candlelit dinner for Earth Hour, create a SASSI green-listed seafood dish and send us the recipes, along with some pictures, we pledge to host a pavement concert for all who wish to attend.

We ask that those who accept our challenge, submit the recipe and send photos of the event which we will share on our website, Twitter account and Facebook page.
