Come waddling through the Waterfront with us on Saturday

The school holidays are here!

We hope you’re having a great break so far this week. Remember that there’s plenty to sea at the Aquarium during the break.

It’s been a busy week! We started our Young Biologist course on Monday, and it’s great to have a classroom full of young, enthusiastic learners keen to find out more about marine science. Interact with the class on Twitter using the #YBcourse hashtag.

Then, the three major new features of our new predator exhibit arrived yesterday. Check out the time-lapse video of the massive crane lifting the new full-length tunnel into place. These acrylic windows were manufactured by CLAX Italia, and have come all the way from Rome!

Lastly, don’t forget that it is African Penguin Awareness Day on Saturday. This is a very important day – African penguins are an endemic species (only found here), an endangered species, and could be extinct within 15 years, and so they are in dire need of our help.

YOU can help them by coming to the Aquarium on Saturday and joining us for our Waterfront Waddle. The bigger the event, the more awareness we create around this issue, and the more resources and goodwill there is to conserve the species.

In fact, Ayoba the African penguin, one our of resident feathered friends, has been at the Twitter account this week to promote the event himself! Here’s a few of his tweets below. Go follow him on Twitter: @2OceansAquarium.
