If you’re planning to pop the big question this Valentine’s Day, why not do it in the unique and intimate setting of the Two Oceans Aquarium?

Picture it: you and your sweetheart savouring a salmon trout bruschetta with a glass of chilled chardonnay. You top up her glass and pop in the ring. As you propose a toast to your future, she raises her glass and … well, you determine how the fairytale ends.

With the romantics in mind, the Shoreline Café has put together a delectable three-course menu for two, including a vegetarian option.

Start off with salmon trout bruschetta with a creamy cucumber and fennel salad, and for mains, grilled fillet mignon with chimichurri butter served with potato dauphinoise and slow-roasted baby onion.

The vegetarian option offers griddled tomato and garlic bruschetta with rocket salad and is followed by wild mushroom and honey-glazed beetroot risotto.

Salted caramel, chocolate and pecan nut praline pots add a sweet ending to your meal.

So make your Valentine’s dinner date one to remember in the company of ragged-tooth sharks, rays, a turtle and shoals of fish, courtesy of the I&J Predator Exhibit.

The evening’s outing begins at 7pm with a welcome drink, before moving on to a three-course dinner at 8pm, followed by tea or coffee and entertainment.

Take an after-dinner stroll around the Aquarium to discover the immense beauty of this underwater paradise as you celebrate your union.

There are only nine tables with prime viewing positions of the I&J Predator Exhibit and Ocean Basket Kelp Forest, at R525 per person. A spot at one of the other tables costs R485 per person.

Faint heart never won fair maiden, so book early with the functions team on 021 814 4547 or email them at functions@aquarium.co.za. Bookings operate on a first come, first served basis. No walk-ins will be accommodated on the evening.
