Adrian Lazarus is the managing director of the Mercedes-Benz Bokeh South African International Fashion Film Festival.
The ever-glamorous annual Mercedes-Benz Bokeh South African International Fashion Film Festival is happening from 21 to 23 April 2016 next door to the Two Oceans Aquarium, at The Avenue. Beautiful art photography of the Aquarium will form the background to this world-renowned international celebration of all things film and fashion.
Participants can expect three days of inspiration, education, glitz and glamour, all focusing on the masterful marriage of fashion and film. Over the three days there will be screenings of selected fashion films and workshops, and talks by leading international and local industry experts in the fashion and film fields.
Speakers include Berlin Fashion Film Festival Co-Founder and Head of Communications Niccolo Montanari, award-winning make-up artist and body painter Einat Dan and Mexico Fashion Film Festival Founder Luisa Suaez. Local representation comes in the form of DJs Dino Moran and Craig De Sousa, who will present a workshop on the magical creativity of musical scores.
Other speakers include Ted Baker UK Womenswear Director Catharine Scorey, Dr Shaun Borstrock from the University of Hertfordshire, Hunger Magazine’s Jordan Rossi, Contentmode’s Deborah Ferguson, Los Angeles Winterstone Pictures’ Edward Winters and Ashley Avis-Winters, Bryan Ramkilawan, Hendrik Vermeulen, David Thlale, Cape Town Fashion Council’s Jacque le Grange, and 24 Slides’ Dr Mark Vella.
Attendees will also experience an exclusive unveiling of a revolutionary 3D-printed clothing range from Modeclix. The dresses were created by Dr Shaun Borstrock from the University of Herfordshire in the UK in collaboration with Prof Mark Bloomfield from Electroboom.
The three-day festival sees the launch of the Global Fashion Revolution 2016 campaign. This is “a global movement that runs throughout the year, celebrating fashion as a positive influence, raising awareness of the fashion industry’s most pressing issues, showing that change is possible - and celebrating those who are on a journey to create a more ethical and sustainable future for fashion.”
More than 100 fashion films will be screened, hand-picked from more than 500 submissions from 41 countries.
