The Two Oceans Aquarium has signed the Cancun Communiqué and urges other businesses to do the same. The Cancun Communiqué on climate change is “the definitive progressive statement from the international business community ahead of the United Nations (UN) climate change conference in Cancun this December.
“It restates the business case for urgent action on climate change and demands that governments redouble efforts to secure an ambitious and equitable international framework, but also pursue an ‘ambitious parallel mitigation strategy’. It has already secured the support of hundreds of companies from around the world.
“It is the successor to previous communiqués such as the Copenhagen Communiqué, which secured over 950 signatures by the time of the Copenhagen UN Climate Summit last year.
“The Cancun Communiqué is an initiative of the Prince of Wales’ Corporate Leaders’ Group on Climate Change which is run by the University of Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership.”
The Aquarium is continually pushing to run the most environmentally sustainable business possible. From eco-friendly water bottles at Shoreline Café to pursuing Marine Stewardship Council certification and improving our Heritage Environmental Rating Programme score, we strive to minimise our carbon footprint.
