Dive into online learning with the Two Oceans Aquarium Education Foundation’s brand new online learning platform!
The Aquarium Foundation is launching its e-learning platform by offering an online course for Grade 8 and 9 students. This course covers topics covering biology and oceanography within the marine sciences. Topics include:
- Life processes
- Classification
- Tides
- Salinity
- The South African shoreline and marine ecosystems
- Introduction to marine vertebrates
- Differences between jawless, cartilaginous and bony fish
This course highlights the diversity within the marine sciences field and is a great way to find out whether a marine career would be something to aspire to. Since Grade 9 is such an important year in terms of subject choices, we will also discuss which subjects are needed to study marine sciences at a tertiary level.
Even though this is the first online course on the Education Foundation’s dedicated e-learning platform, we are no strangers to offering courses online. Before the lockdown started, we offered two of our regular holiday courses online for the first time. The feedback from students was that it was a resounding success.
