The time has arrived for our next group of adult volunteers to be chosen. We have space for 54 new volunteers to start at the Two Oceans Aquarium, a workforce invaluable for us staff here.
If you feel that you would like to become a Two Oceans Aquarium volunteer, check out the requirements below:
- You are 18 years or older
- You have a strong interest in marine life and are passionate about working with people
- You can commit to a seven-Saturday training course of theoretical and practical content
- You can commit to at least one 4.5-hour shift per month
- You agree to volunteer front-of-house (FOH) for 45 hours first, before diversifying into other volunteering areas, such as behind-the-scenes (BTS), penguins as well as the Environmental Education Centre
Remember, no previous background knowledge is needed. That is what the training is for, which will start at the end of January 2015 (dates to be confirmed upon acceptance to the course). If you agree with all of the above points, the please apply! Here is what you need to do:
- Write a motivational letter of a minimum of 400 words on why we should choose you to take part in our next training programme
- Acquire a letter of recommendation from a non-family member who can give us a better idea of your character (i.e. employer, lecturer)
Applications will be open on our website 1-16 November 2014 (no late applications will be accepted).
Please attach these two letters to the online form that you fill in. All successful applicants will be notified by the end of November.
