Polychaetes are segmented worms that are some of the most common and diverse creatures found along our shores. Almost 800 species occur in southern Africa. They vary in size and some species can grow up to one metre in length.
We’ve created a special artificial burrow for this worm so that it is easier for us to keep an eye on it and for you to see what it’s up to, but occasionally we like to change things to add a little twist to the exhibit!
Our wonderworm has had its home kitted out for these special events…
Be sure to check out the Oceans of Contrast: Atlantic Ocean Gallery on your next visit to see this little socialite in action!
